Spiritual Gifts - A Ministry for My Life

Romans 12:1-8
6. Mercy: (Romans 12:8)
A. Definition: The ability to act out of compassion toward those who are suffering.
B. Characteristics of a person who shows mercy:
1. Can hang around people that are not that popular.
2. Would like to work with disabled people.
3. Feel sympathetic toward needy people.
4. Checks on people that are sick and is concerned for them.
5. When they see the down and out they want to help them.
7. Hospitality: (Hebrews 13:2)
A. Definition: The gift of being friendly and generous to guests.
B. Characteristics of a hospitable person:
1. They invite the needy to their homes.
2. Like having people over at their houses.
3. Don't mind people dropping in on them.
4. People feel comfortable at my house.
8. Leading: (Romans 12:8)
A. Definition: The ability to motivate others to use their spiritual gifts and to do their best for the work of the Lord.
B. Characteristics of a leader:
1. Usually decide for the entire group's activity.
2. Like to motivate and organize groups of people to accomplish something.
3. Encourage others to stick with a job until it is finished.
4. Would like to lead, inspire, and motivate people to do God's work.
5. In a group people look for them to take charge.
9. Evangelism: (Ephesians 4:11)
A. Definition: The ability to help others to come to know Jesus personally.
B. Characteristics of an evangelist:
1. Like to tell other people about their relationship with God.
2. Can sometimes make discussions relate to God.
3. Would like to help another person learn who Jesus is.
4. Like to tell others about Jesus being the answer to life.
5. Take any opportunity to tell others about God.
10. Faith: (1 Corinthians 12:9)
A. Definition: The ability to have a confident belief that God will always do what is the very best.
B. Characteristics of a person with the gift of faith:
1. Have confidence that God will get them through anything.
2. Believe God can do things that are impossible.
3. Have confidence that God will keep His promises no matter what.
4. Know I can call on God and He will come to me no matter what.
5. Even when things look bad, they still trust God.
