I Believe What I Believe
Lesson 33
Witnessing - A Reason For My Life
"Methods of Witnessing - How?"
Proverbs 11:30
1. Four Requirements To Be A Witness:
A. Be Humble - God blesses humility more than any other thing.
B. Be Submitted to the Holy Spirit - Depend on Him to open doors.
C. Be Prayerful - Only a heart prepared can see the needs.
D. Be Yourself - God created you to witness just like you are.
2. Six Methods of Witnessing - Find Your Fit
A. "You crucified the wrong man" - Confrontational (Acts 2)
1. Peter was a take charge type person, he naturally fits here.
2. Some people may not get saved if you do not knock them over the head.
3. In verse 36 Peter lays it on the line with them about what they had done with Christ.
4. If God has made you for confrontation then get out there and confront.
5. A word to the wise:
a. Offer your personality and passions to God.
b. Ask the Holy Spirit to surround your natural confidence with sensitivity and discernment.
B. Think It Through - Intellectual (Acts 17)
1. In the same way that Peter could cut through it all; the Apostle Paul could intelligently work through his witnessing with people.
2. In verse 3 we see Paul reasoning out the resurrection to the educated people in Athens.
3. Paul was a good debater and could argue his point from an intellectual stand point.
4. If you like to discuss and prove your point then the intellectual approach may be for you.
C. "He changed my life" - Testimonial (John 9)
1. After Jesus healed this blind man he went everywhere telling what Jesus had done for Him. (John 9:25; 32-33)
2. The testimonial person simply tells the story of the miraculous work of Jesus.
3. Everyone should write out and know their testimony so that they can give it at any time.
4. All of our lives have been changed by God; the testimonial type is easy for anyone to use.
