I Believe What I Believe
Lesson 45
Salvation - A New Way For My Life
"Congratulations You Are A New Creation!"
2 Corinthians 5:17; 2 Peter 1:3-9
1. Congratulations You Have Just Begun Again. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
A. We have all become new when we are saved.
B. The old way we used to live is done away with by the power of Christ.
C. No matter what it is; it becomes new in Christ if we allow Him to have it.
2. Some Things We As New Creations Should Add. (2 Peter 1:3-9)
A. We must understand that it is only through the power of Christ that we add anything to our lives. (v. 3)
B. These things are added so that God can receive glory. (v. 4)
C. Here we go with the things we need to grow in as we begin our new life: (vs. 5-7)
1) Starts with faith in God.
2) Goodness comes as you give up your old sins.
3) The knowledge of the Bible comes after goodness.
4) With God's help you can then begin to truly begin to say no with self- control.
5) Patience comes as you gain and lose as you grow.
6) When you can help yourself then you are ready to serve other people.
7) Remember to add kindness to everything you do for other people.
8) Love is the final thing that makes the creation complete.
D. As long as you are continually adding you will be growing in the Lord. (v. 8)
E. If you stop adding you stop growing and that's the bottom line. (v. 9)
"If anyone belongs to Christ, there is a new creation. The old things have gone; everything is made new."
"Jesus has the power of God, by which he has given us everything we need to live and to serve him. Jesus called us by his glory and goodness. Through these he gave us the very great and precious promises. With these gifts you can share in being like God, and the world will not ruin you with its evil desires. Because you have these blessings, do your best to add these things to your lives: to your faith, add goodness; and to your goodness, add knowledge; and to your knowledge, add self-control; and to your self-control, add patience; and to your patience, add service for God; and to your service for God, add kindness for your brothers and sisters in Christ; and to this kindness , add love. If all these things are in you and are growing, they will help you to be useful and productive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But anyone who does not have these things cannot see clearly. He is blind and has forgotten that he was made clean from his past sins."
